Square Root Surfboards was founded by surfboard shaper and builder Matt Solomon, whose love for the ocean and woodworking led him to design high performance surfboards that don’t harm the environment.

Square Root Surfboards’ eco-friendly sustainable surfboards are created in the wilds of San Diego County with locally sourced materials like yucca and agave. We build lightweight high performance surfboards meant to last. Using the most eco-friendly sustainable materials available, Square Root Surfboards creates both solid and hollow wooden surfboards made from woods including paulownia wood selected for its strength and lightness. Square Root Surfboards also offers upcycled EPS foam core boards skinned in paulownia wood or glassed with organic hemp fiber. We use Entropy bio resin on our boards and focus on minimizing waste at every step.

Square Root Surfboards are beautiful, they last forever, and surf amazing. Every individually made board is part of a family tree.
